Salmon Two Ways (Honey Garlic Glazed & Shioyaki)

It's wild salmon season again, or so I assumed from the abundant supply and cheap cheap pricing from Whole Foods and Costco. They are cheaper than their farmed cousins right now and way healthier! I literally can't help myself from picking up those bright red wild sockeye salmon fillets for two weeks straight.

Turnip Cake - 蘿蔔糕

As Chinese New Year is just around the corner (pssst... it's Feb 16 this year. Even though I'm Chinese, I still need to google it every year to find out when it is. So don't feel bad if you don't know.) I thought it's only fitting that I make something Chinese. Turnip cake is a Cantonese dim sum dish that is traditionally very popular to eat around Chinese New Year. Although nowadays, it's available year round at Cantonese dim sum restaurants.

Coconut Mango Ovenight Oats

I used to have overnight oats all the time, especially during summer. But since winter rolled around, I found myself steering towards warm breakfast more and more. Luckily, the temperature is picking up slowly recently. Even though it's still no where near summer, I started to miss the cold refreshing overnight oats that I use to have with fresh fruit. So I decided to make one with some fresh mangos I got from Costco and coconut flakes. It made me crave for a tropical vacation.

Quinoa Kale Breakfast Bowl

I don't have many routines. One of the only few I kept is going to kickboxing class on Saturday mornings. With the intense 75-minute workout, I found having a savory bowl for breakfast is perfect to keep me energetic the entire time.

Avocado Toast (with homemade whole wheat bread)

I have been craving avocado toast for a while. When that craving hit again last night, it was way too late for going to any reputable bakery to buy bread. So I had this crazy idea to start making my own bread at 10pm at night.

Pinto Beans Masala

I've been trying to cook beans and bringing them for lunch for a couple weeks now. The taste and texture has never been quite right until I stumbled upon this Indian vegetarian dish by Chetna (well, technically her Mom).
